Beadworker attentive to small details
Christina Simon makes beadwork in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), and Christinas Beading Creations is where her earrings, lanyards and keychains find their way to other people. She is from Paqtnkek Mi'kmaw Nation, and what she carries into the handmade craft is an eye for tiny details that make a difference and make people smile. That attention is the whole of it: the small things, noticed, done properly.
She works on designs that speak to her and to others, and she keeps the prices nice, because being able to hold a piece should not be the hard part. The joy is in showing that you can make something beautiful and having someone appreciate it as much as the time she took to make the design. "Just want to share my special work with the world," she says, "to see if I have what they like."

Christina's Beading Creations' earrings are the handmade pieces customers reach for first, beaded by Christina Simon in Kjipuktuk (Halifax). The trouble is deciding. People see all of the finished pairs laid out at once and find themselves unable to make up their minds, which is its own kind of compliment.
The choosing starts long before that. Christina takes her time picking out cord that speaks to her, one spool at a time, and hopes it will speak to others too. She is from Paqtnkek Mi'kmaw Nation, and that patience at the front end is what the earrings carry forward.
