Jennie Dobbs isn't just a business owner—she's a force of nature wrapped in determination and dusted with flour. At 29, armed with $45,000 in savings and a dream bigger than her 12-table restaurant, she bought a wood-fired oven from Italy and opened Morris East. No culinary school. No restaurant pedigree. Just pure passion, a finance degree from Western Ontario, and an unshakeable belief and inspired by Italian al fresco dining and its relaxed, social atmosphere of good food, good friends and good drinks.
Eighteen years later, Morris East has become a Halifax institution—two locations, national television features on "You Gotta Eat Here," third place at the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas, and countless "Best Pizza" awards. She's been nominated three times for the RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur Award and was a 2012 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist.
But when the pandemic shut her dining room doors, Jennie didn't retreat—she reinvented. A mother of two boys (ages nine and six), partner to Simon, and now beverage entrepreneur, she brings the same obsessive attention to detail to every Sprizzi can that she brought to every pizza that left her wood-fired oven.
"I live and breathe making quality delicious products that bring people together," Jennie says. "That's what drives me—creating things that join people on their awesome life adventures."

Simon and I created Sprizzi because we were tired of compromises. Tired of artificial flavors masquerading as "craft." Tired of drinks that promise refreshment but deliver regret. We wanted to make something we'd be proud to serve at Morris East, something worthy of the wood-fired pizzas and carefully curated wine lists we've spent two decades perfecting.
Every can of Sprizzi represents our commitment to you: real lemon juice, premium spirits, local ingredients whenever possible, and absolutely zero shortcuts.
